Can I Update My Website Myself?

During the initial planning of your new custom website, editable sections are established by specially encoding them to be read and rewritten by the client. These editable regions are designed to be understood and reworked quickly and easily, and with only the most basic computer skills necessary. Such sections include: calendars, news blocks, special events, word-of-the-day sections, and more. And although editable regions can be designed for any kind of website, hosted by any company, such regions are best modified from the client account management desktop available FREE with EtherJungle.com hosting.
When hosted by EtherJungle.com, clients simply log in to their private account management desktops via the EtherJungle.com ‘home’ page ‘Client Login’ link using their secure username and password. An icon available there links to the managing and editing section for your site’s files. On that page, the editable files of your site are read and rewritten via a ‘WYSIWYG’ (What You See Is What You Get) interface, which allows clients to see page code as an openly-editable display screen, loosely similar to most popular e-mail and word programs. Simply make the necessary changes to the predetermined sections of your web pages and then click ‘Continue’ to save the updated file to the server.
When hosting your website elsewhere, the specially written editable sections of your web pages can be edited with your choice of HTML editing software (ex: Abode Contribute CS3). However, here at EtherJungle.com we design editable web pages, not hosted with us, to be easily edited using ‘Notepad’, a very simple HTML editor available FREE with all versions of Windows. These editable sections are especially identified within the code using coded ‘labels’, and clients are provided general instructions as to the editing process, with friendly and knowledgeable customer support in the event of mishap or editing questions.
To guard against mishap, or ‘accidental code corruption’, EtherJungle.com backs up the original files of every custom website we build. If editable pages suddenly cease to function properly, the original files of your website can be reloaded to restore the malfunctioning page(s). However, some fees apply for this service. Other options include clients frequently downloading previous working versions of their edited files in case of accidental code corruption. Another option includes allowing EtherJungle.com support to correct accidental code corruption. Some service fees for code corruption correction do apply, but files corrected in this way maintain recently updated information. When files are reloaded, recent updates are lost.
